It's occurred to me that even though Rocko's Modern Life is one of my favorite Nicktoons, and one of my favorite childhood cartoons in general, I haven't drawn him yet, so I decided to try it out by working from scratch on Photoshop. Just remember that I'm still not entirely used to it, in terms of methods & freehand drawing (the line art for this, I think, looks like crap), so I want you to bear with me on some of these.
For those of you who don't know, Rocko's Modern Life was a hilarious Nicktoon from the 90's involving the misadventures of an Australian wallaby named Rocko who lives & has to constantly deal with the absurdities of the often surreal city O-Town. Others in the show were Heffer, a hungry steer literally raised by wolves & Rocko's best friend, nervous turtle Filbert, next door neighbors Ed & Bev Bighead, & Rocko's brain-dead dog Spunky, pictured here with his owner.
The show was notable for being a satire of modern society, & is probably the King of Hidden Innuendo References in cartoons.

i loved this show when i was younger and they left the production to start spongebob because the creator gave up on the show and episode ratings went down when it was given to the creator of spongebob
Ah yes, this show. Out of all the Nicktoons of my youth, this one is probably my favorite. I used to LOVE Rugrats, but it's been a while since I've seen it, and while I've grown to really like Hey Arnold, I'll admit I wasn't a huge fan of the show when it was on TV. But there was some moments in it that stood out in my memory, so that counts for something.
But Rocko seems to be the one I remember always liking a lot. So far, I have the first season on DVD. I need to get the other seasons soon, so I can laugh my ass off at THE FATHEADS and WACKY DELI.
I wasn't really a big fan of Rugrats, and my brother REALLY didn't like that show or any of the other shows that Klasky-Csupo, mostly because he felt the style was unappealing, especially the character designs. To him, if a character design is to be exaggerated, it should go all-out, but he didn't feel like they were. He's more tolerant of Hey Arnold, but he loves Rocko's Modern Life as much as, if not more than, I do.
I want to get the first season at some point. Currently, I'm watching the show on Netflix InstantWatch, which is pretty convenient, if you ask me.
When I was younger, I simply enjoyed the absurdity of this. The surrealism was unbelievable and those lines were hilarious Now, I began to realize what innuendos there were! And several were very daring And it had intelligent humour, too.

Rocko: "I think Doodling day is a very dangerous day."
Well I told you it's not dangerous....
